Hello everyone.. as many of you know, this is my first time "blogging". I've heard a lot about it and thought I'd give it a try. :)
As Valentine's Day, or Single Awareness Day (as I refer to it), has come and gone, I've learned a few things about life and relationships. While card companies like to praise the lovers and couples who once again get ANOTHER holiday to celebrate together, I like to take a moment and celebrate the true heroes of this day: the single girl. So today, I salute you my single friend. YOU-yes you, hot stuff, reading this post- are worth celebrating, and you do not need a man in your life in order to feel complete.
Why in life are we so anxious to find "the one"? Why can't we just take one day at a time, having fun with those people who really love us for who we are- our best friends? I'm sick and tired of feeling like I HAVE to be dating somebody, or I'm undesirable because I don't have a significant other. We're still young! Speaking for myself only, I want to find out who I am as a person, and I want to LOVE that person before I display that heart on a silver platter. I want to be secure about myself before I get my heart shredded into tiny pieces, so that I don't fall apart trying to glue those pieces back together. I know what you're thinking- Stephanie, why do you assume you're going to get your heart broken? My answer for you is that we all get hurt. I've been hurt, I've felt unwanted and undesirable, and I really hate that feeling. I've been in that position where I'm not sure who I am, or if I even like myself. And let me tell you, getting your heart stomped on when you're already down so low, thats the worst feeling of all. Surround yourself with your girlfriends, and stop worrying about being the only single girl in the room.
So, here's to you- my sexy single ladies. Live life fearlessly. Find out who you are, what you want in life, and be fearless when it comes to those things.
"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous." - Carrie Bradshaw
